I remember as a youg kid in the UK staying up in the early hours with a sleeping bag camping in front of the Black & White TV, watching the USA get men on the moon. A truly historic moment and as Neil Armstrong said “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”

Now as the space legend Armstrong has passed away earlier today, NBC News says the first atronaut on the moon was actually Neil Young, the songwriter. No wonder he had such a catchly line.

Go and stand in the corner NBC with a Dunce Cap on. I think a villager from Outer Mongolia would even know who the first man on the moon was. It’s American history for goodness sake.

Armstrong’s family have asked that people remember him as follows.

“For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.”
